Celine Dion isn’t backing down from her fight with Stiff Person Syndrome and is determined to live her life as normally as possible.

The singer has been battling the illness, which causes painful spasms and progressive muscle stiffness, since 2022 and has been forced to cancel planned music tours but remains stoic about getting on with her life.

On World International SPS Awareness Day, she posted an update on how she was faring and also shared her gratitude for the support she’s received since being diagnosed.

Celine wrote: ‘Today the world recognizes International SPS Awareness Day. As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible.

‘I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team, and all of you! I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world that have been affected by SPS.’

‘I want you to know you can do it! We can do it!’ Her encouraging words come after Celine made a surprise appearance at The Grammy Awards in February to present the award for Album of the Year.

Taylor Swift won the award on the night but caused controversy by appearing to snub the singer as she accepted her win.

They were later pictured backstage which again caused backlash from some corners with fans calling it ‘damage control.’

Celine’s appearance at the awards comes after she made her first public appearance in years at a basketball game in November.
