Celine Dion is looking to get back on stage after battling stiff person syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that limits her mobility, she announced her intentions to return to the limelight amid the stiff person syndrome awareness day.
Celine Dion has had one of the hardest experiences in her life when battling SPS
Celine Dion let her fans know of her decision via Instagram where she wrote “Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible,”
On the next slide, Dion added a picture of herself with son René-Charles Angélil, 23, and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson while thanking her family, team, and fans “I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team, and all of you!”
Celine also had some words of encouragement for those who are suffering from the same autoimmune disorder “I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world that have been affected by SPS,” she elaborated “I want you to know you can do it! We can do it!” she concluded, signing off, “Love Celine xx.”
What is Stiff person syndrome?
Doctors at the National Institute of Health describe the syndrome as a rare, progressive neurological disorder that causes damage to the communication between arms and legs.
Back in 2022, Celine Dione made a public statement about her disgnosis “a very rare neurological syndrome, which affects something like one in a million people.”
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she said in an emotional video at the time. Dion had to cancel her “Courage” tour after she went public, however, assured her fans that she’d fight this and would see them again soon.
