From Woven Bags to Nostalgic Footwear, 6 Accessories Inspired by Matthieu Blazy’s Childhood

Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2024 celebrates the joy of dressing without boundaries

Growing up, creative director Matthieu Blazy found inspiration in the vibrant harlequin costumes from his childhood. These whimsical outfits ignited his imagination, drawing parallels to Bottega Veneta’s iconic Intrecciato motif, renowned for its exaggerated lapels and bold accessories. This inspiration forms the foundation of the Resort 2024 collection, where personal touches blend seamlessly with the whimsy and craftsmanship.

The 40-year-old designer describes the collection as an odyssey, a journey that intertwines the external and internal worlds, offering a kaleidoscope of cactus and nautilus shell dresses, adorned with motifs of flowers, fireworks, and rock formations. It celebrates the personal pleasure of dressing up, allowing individuals to be whoever they desire to be and travel both in their imagination.

“There is a need to reconnect to a primal world of animals, minerals, and plants. It’s like collecting seashells—beautiful, meaningful or meaningless. It’s linked to the beauty of small marvels and natural wonders. It’s embracing something freeform: these are clothes without codes,” reveals Blazy, emphasizing the collection’s organic inspiration.

Among the standouts of the Resort 2024 collection are the accessories that epitomize Bottega Veneta’s refined aesthetic:
