Jannik Sinner dazzles in Gucci for new Vogue magazine profile

April 5, 2024

Jannik Sinner is getting comfortable in high fashion. For the second time in less than a year, the Italian has graced the pages of the U.S. fashion magazine Vogue.

The Italian’s latest foray in the pages of Anna Wintour’s magazine comes just days after winning his third title of the season at the Miami Open, where he was photographed by Norman Jean Roy and styled by Edward Bowleg III. A Gucci ambassador since 2022, the latest shoot sees him wearing a stylish green suit from the fashion house while posing in artful garden shrubbery alongside a long read by Abby Aguirre. (Aguirre also penned Coco Gauff’s *Vogue *cover story last month.)

In the new profile, the Italian reveals his further goals in what he already dubbed an “almost perfect” season thus far, the “awesome feeling” of finally winning Miami in his third trip to the final, as well as dealing with the pressure that’s come with his rapid rise to stardom.

After beating Daniil Medevedev from a two-set deficit to win his first major title at the Australian Open in January, Sinner famously said he “like[s] to dance in the pressure storm.”

To Aguirre, he opened up further on what that means, and what it’s been like to been Italy’s seemingly singular sporting focus in the aftermath, which included a Colosseum tour with the trophy and congratulatory messages from Pope Francis.

“There was a lot of love,” Sinner said. “You could feel that it was something big. I take it very, I won’t say normal, because it’s a situation I’ve never imagined to be in, but to see people happy, that makes me happy.”

With the season’s first three months already in the books, Sinner says his goals for the rest of the year include “trying to be as competitive as possible in all Grand Slams, but mostly the Olympics,” as well as “getting stronger” in the short term with his new-enough fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara.

“But not, like, big. Because I think my strength is the flexibility I have in my shots,” he said.

Those lofty aspirations come with pressure, he recognized, but as we now know, it’s not something that daunts him.

“This pressure, you have to take it in a positive way,” Sinner continued. “You have to be kind with the pressure. You have to make friendship. If you hate this pressure, it’s the wrong spot for you, no? The really good and positive thing of tennis is, you have this momentum. The momentum can be positive, happy. And can be negative when you lose. But you live in a momentum. In my mind, everything goes quite fast.”
