Irene Taylor’s documentary I Am: Celine Dion is now confirmed to be heading to Prime Video in June. Details below.

We reported a couple of months back that Celine Dion was the latest musician to have her own intimate documentary produced, digging into her long career and most importantly, her struggles with a life-altering illness.

I Am: Celine Dion was acquired by Prime Video, but the streaming service was tight-lipped about a release date.

Well, we can now report that I Am: Celine Dion will premiere on Prime Video on 25th June. The announcement came with a new image from the documentary which you can see above. Celine seems to be fist-pumping the air. The Film Stories team think she might have just won a round of Fortnite, but we’ll have to wait until June to confirm that.

The life-altering illness we mentioned earlier is SPS (Stiff Person Syndrome). It’s a condition that causes, as the name implies, stiffness in one’s muscles as well as painful spasms.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” Celine Dion said of the documentary in January. “As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Prime Video is on quite a streak of original programming. Its Anne Hathaway-headlined romcom The Idea Of You is gathering a lot of buzz after it premiered at the SXSW festival last month and Fallout has proven to not only be critically acclaimed, but also popular with fans. There’s also the upcoming season 4 of The Boys, which promises to be a hoot.
