Dr. Perry N. Halkitis is an accomplished infectious disease epidemiologist, applied statistician, and public health psychologist. He has made significant contributions to the field of public health through his extensive research, teaching, advocacy, and activism.
Currently serving as the Dean, Hunterdon Professor of Public Health & Health Equity, and Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics & Epidemiology at the Rutgers School of Public Health, Dr. Halkitis is also the founder and Director of the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior & Prevention Studies (CHIBPS). With his status as a Professor Emeritus at the College of Global Public Health at New York University, Dr. Halkitis has established himself as a leader in academia.
For over three decades, Dr. Halkitis has focused his research on the emergence, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases in minority populations, showcasing his dedication to health equity and social justice.

Dr. Halkitis is a prolific author, having penned six books and over 300 peer-reviewed academic articles. He serves as the Editor in Chief of Behavioral Medicine and the Founding Editor in Chief of Annals of LGBTQ Public and Population Health. Additionally, Dr. Halkitis is a sought-after media expert, frequently sharing his expertise on television, radio, print, and podcasts.
Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Dr. Halkitis has received numerous awards from professional and community-based organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for School and Programs of Public Health and the Hyacinth Foundation, among others.
With degrees in epidemiology, applied statistics, psychology, and education, Dr. Halkitis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his work, shaping the future of public health education, research, and practice.
