LUXURY brand Melia will open Cadiz’s first ever five-star hotel as it transforms a city centre finca and palatial home into a holiday haven.
Work has begun in the Alameda area, where a 1760 palace and 18th century finca are being converted.
Part of the Melia Collection brand, the boutique hotel will open its doors in 2026.
The hotel will offer its guests an ‘exclusive experience with 40 rooms and a series of luxury services, including a terrace restaurant with views of the Alameda, serving up local food, an exclusive rooftop with a pool and sea views, a fully equipped gym and a dedicated well-being space.’
According to Melia CEO, Gabriel Escarrer: “We are very proud to be the chain pushing up five star hotel standards in Spain’s main destinations.

The building owners, Luis Lopez de Carrizosa Caballero and Diana Domecq Delgado, are proud to have ‘promoted a very important project like this, which will be a fundamental drive in bringing high quality tourism to the city.’
For Melia, this will be their second venture in Cadiz and their seventh in the province.

They currently have hotels in popular locations like Chiclana and Zahara de los Atunes.
As well as Melia’s new project, there will be three more five star offerings coming to the city.
Hotel chain Barcelo will open a new luxury venture in the railway station while the port will also receive a new five star venue and as will the Populo neighbourhood, led by chain Hotusa.
In the past year, Cadiz has gained 12 new hotels, especially in the old town and Paseo Maritimo.
