Céline Dion is opening up about life after receiving an incurable diagnosis in a new documentary.
The 56-year-old Canadian singer – who announced in December 2022 she has stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that makes torso and limb muscles alternate between spasms and rigidity – took to Instagram overnight to announce the release date of her documentary, I Am: Céline Dion.
With her message, she also shared a raw, behind-the-scenes photo from the documentary, which was filmed over a year.

Céline Dion opens up about health battles in new documentary
It comes after Dion announced the documentary’s production earlier this year, writing in a statement at the time, “This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me.”
“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.
“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Dion announced in December 2022 she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, revealing it would mean she would have to step back from performing.
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she explained to her fans in a statement.
Since then, Dion has stopped touring and performing live, and she rarely makes public appearances.
