Chanel’s Dallas, Texas boutique is re-opening, joining the French luxury fashion house’s highly immersive global shopping flagships. Located within the Highland Park historic district, the two-story Spanish-Mediterranean style building (originally built in the 1930s) was redesigned by longtime Chanel collaborator Peter Marino, to pay homage to Gabrielle Chanel’s distinct, rich decorating style—and her legendary apartment on Rue Cambon—weaving both French savoir faire and the vibrant colors and textures of Texas.
In contrast to the traditional terracotta and stucco facade of the building, the boutique’s interior is designed to evoke a private residence, blending neutral tones with pink, gold, and yellow accents that are inspired by the zest of Dallas. There are five salons on the boutique’s ground floor, with enclaves dedicated to the display of handbags and accessories, as well as an assortment of preview jewelry and watches. As customers walk to the back, they are met with a glistening gold and black room where they will find Chanel’s fragrance and beauty offerings.
Once upstairs, shoppers will be met with a hint more texture and color, meant to channel Gabrielle Chanel’s private apartments. There are four salons, three of which are dedicated to ready-to-wear, and one reserved for shoes. The ready-to-wear salons are also designed to feature a variety of antique and contemporary furniture and decorative art, including Etere chairs by Augusto Bozzi in custom fabric upholstery, as well as lion sculptures from the late Italian ceramicist Bruno Gambone, and a 12 paneled Chinese coromandel screen dating from the 18th century.
Within the shoe salon, clients are met with pieces that are meant to complement Chanel’s designs, such as Chinese Sancai-glazed ceramic lions from the Ming dynasty, a Peter Marino bronze box, and bonze chairs from the Voukenas Petrides design studio, all illuminated by a glowing rock crystal by longtime partner of the maison (and storied Parisian goldsmith) Goossens.
Beyond the stunning design and decor that melds the house of Chanel’s iconic savoir faire and ebullient Texas spirit, the maison’s Spring-Summer ready-to-wear collection, which was inspired by freedom, movement, and the seaside gardens of Villa Noailles, will make its debut at the Dallas boutique. Clients will also find iconic timepieces, such as the ceramic J12 collection as well as Chanel’s newest Coco Crush fine jewelry collection showcased within the watches & fine jewelry salons.
This opening marks the latest in Chanel’s commitment to creating immersive boutiques. Earlier this year, the maison opened a spectacular Fifth Avenue flagship for watches and fine jewelry.
