An incident involving the theft of a vehicle by an armed group near Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie resulted in three individuals being taken into custody. According to local law enforcement, officers responded to reports of a stolen blue 2019 Kia sedan around mid-afternoon on Thursday. Upon arrival at the scene, police observed four suspects fleeing the area on foot. Authorities managed to apprehend three of them, one of whom was reportedly in possession of two firearms.

The search for the remaining suspect led to heightened security measures in the vicinity. Niles North High School was placed under a precautionary soft lockdown as officers, supported by neighboring police departments and a canine unit, conducted an extensive search of the area.
