Rediscover the Magic of Craft Beer at Bracket’s New Home

New Beginnings Amidst Challenges

The journey to this point has not been easy for Bracket Brewing. Forced out of their Alexandria location due to an astronomical rent increase, the brewery had to seek a new home. However, adversity often breeds opportunity, and Bracket found a welcoming space in Marrickville. Owner Mike Meletopoulo reflects on the transition with a sense of gratitude. "It's incredible to see so many familiar faces," he says. "We didn't expect such loyalty from our regulars."The move also brought unexpected support from within the industry. Collaborations with breweries like Banks, Kicks, Slow Lane, One Drop, Range, Deeds, and Future Brewing kept the Bracket name alive during the downtime. Rocks Brewing provided crucial assistance with cold storage and logistics, while friends from nearby warehouses offered invaluable help in relocating equipment. This network of support underscored the camaraderie that thrives within the craft beer community.

A Fresh Start with Enhanced Features

Bracket's new taproom is more than just a change of address; it represents a fresh start filled with improvements. Despite being only two square meters larger, the new space feels significantly roomier and more functional. The wider layout offers better standing room and a dedicated bar area, enhancing the overall experience for visitors. Mike emphasizes the importance of these changes. "We've invested in top-tier audio equipment and built a new bar to create a more harmonious environment for both brewing and hospitality." The new setup also includes a larger cool room, addressing previous limitations and streamlining production processes. Additionally, the upstairs area, though still under development, promises exciting possibilities for future events and activities.

Aesthetic Revival and Brand Evolution

The new taproom also marks a significant shift in Bracket's visual identity. Local street artist Nico was enlisted to redesign the brand and create murals that breathe life into the space. Roberta Meletopoulo, Mike's partner, championed the rebranding effort, aiming to soften the brewery's image. "We wanted to evolve without losing our essence," Mike explains. "Nico's work perfectly captures the spirit we were aiming for."This aesthetic transformation aligns with the brewery's commitment to innovation and quality. The Inner West Ale Trail, which relaunched last September, has played a pivotal role in promoting Bracket's new location. Marrickville locals have embraced the taproom, appreciating the focus on craft beer without the need for lengthy explanations. "People here understand and appreciate what we offer," Mike notes. "It's refreshing to be in a community that truly values craft beer."

A Secure Future for Bracket Brewing

Signing the lease on Addison Road coincided with a personal milestone for Mike—the birth of his daughter. The seven-year lease ensures Bracket's stability for years to come. "It's reassuring to know we have until May 2032," he says. "By then, my kids will be eight and ten; that's plenty of time to grow and thrive."Bracket Brewing's resilience and adaptability have set the stage for an exciting future. With a renewed sense of purpose and a supportive community, the brewery is poised to continue delivering exceptional craft beers. Visitors can now enjoy Bracket's offerings at 2/48 Addison Road, Marrickville, where the taproom is open from Thursday to Sunday.
