Brunswick, Va. (WWBT) - The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has reported a significant incident where numerous items were taken from the construction site of a new school on Planters Road. This has raised concerns among the local community and law enforcement alike.

Deputies were promptly called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday due to a suspected trespassing/burglary situation. Upon their quick arrival, they discovered several cut locks and cables on gates and storage units. Additionally, a vehicle was found left inside the fenced area. This initial discovery pointed to a possible break-in and theft at the construction site.The construction project manager has stated that spools of electrical wire, plumbing-related piping, and a large number of other building materials were stolen. Such losses can have a significant impact on the progress of the school construction project and may lead to delays and additional costs.

Call for Public Assistance

In an effort to gather more information and potentially identify the culprits, the sheriff's office has made a plea to the public. If anyone living or working on Planters Road, Lawrenceville Plank Road, or Poor House Road has private cameras that cover any part of the public roadway and is willing to allow the authorities to review the footage related to this crime, they are urged to contact Captain Joey Lopresti at 434-848-3133.
