Delamain Cognac Unveils Exclusive Millésime 1995 Release
2025-07-07

Delamain Cognac has recently unveiled a distinguished addition to its esteemed Pléiade collection: the Millésime 1995. This highly exclusive release, comprising only 800 bottles, represents a 30-year-old Grande Champagne Cognac. It embodies the brand's dedication to crafting spirits of exceptional character and heritage. The launch of this vintage expression underscores Delamain's ongoing commitment to quality and its rich history in the world of fine spirits.

The Millésime 1995 stands as a testament to the remarkable conditions of its vintage year. The 1995 harvest in Champagne benefited from an ideal climate, marked by a sunny spring and a warm, arid summer. These conditions fostered the growth of perfectly ripened grapes, resulting in wines that were both rich and concentrated, with an excellent balance of acidity and alcohol. Such a foundation provided an extraordinary potential for the distilled eaux-de-vie to mature gracefully over time, promising a spirit of profound depth and complexity.

Following distillation, the wine underwent a meticulous aging process. Initially, it spent two decades in a BNIC certified vintage cellar located in Ambleville. Subsequently, it was transferred to Delamain’s own vintage cellar for an additional ten years of maturation. This rigorous 30-year journey ensured the cognac developed its unique attributes without any artificial enhancements, such as added sugar or coloring, preserving its natural essence and integrity.

The selection of the Millésime 1995 for the Pléiade Collection was personally overseen by Charles Braastad, Delamain’s 9th generation Cellar Master, who assumed the role in August 2023. Braastad’s discerning palate and expertise were crucial in identifying this particular vintage for its exceptional flavor profile, which he describes as remarkably vibrant and bursting with fresh, fruity notes, evoking the serenity of a countryside evening stroll. His endorsement highlights the cognac’s distinctive qualities and its embodiment of the House’s unique style and savoir-faire.

This release follows Delamain’s bicentenary celebrations, which occurred last October. To mark two centuries of excellence, the House released two commemorative bottlings. One notable offering was L’Édition Rare du Bicentenaire, a blend of highly prized eaux-de-vie from various generations, including vintages from 1947, 1893, 1914, 1965, and 1969. Only 200 bottles of this special blend were made available. Additionally, a 10-liter dame-jeanne from the bicentenary collection fetched an impressive €93,000 at a Bonhams auction in December, further cementing Delamain’s prestige in the luxury spirits market.

The Delamain Millésime 1995 will be available in the UK, carrying a suggested retail price of £460. This new release continues Delamain's tradition of offering exquisite and rare cognacs, appealing to connoisseurs and collectors seeking spirits with a rich history and exceptional quality.
