Hong Kong's Exhibition Sector Shows Resilience Amid Global Challenges
2025-06-11

Trade and consumer exhibitions in Hong Kong have demonstrated significant recovery, with mainland visitors playing a crucial role. In 2024, the number of attendees from Mainland China surged by 21% compared to the previous year, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 9.2%. The city successfully organized 121 large-scale exhibitions throughout the year, marking an increase of nearly 10% over 2023. This growth reflects renewed interest and participation in the region's exhibition landscape.

The industry has witnessed notable increases in exhibitor participation and overall attendance figures. Exhibiting firms saw a rise of 13.9%, reaching close to 52,000 participants, while total visitor numbers climbed by 4.5% to surpass 1.46 million. Despite these positive trends, challenges persist as the sector grapples with uneven recovery dynamics. While event counts align with pre-pandemic norms, engagement metrics such as exhibitor numbers and visitor turnout still lag behind 2019 benchmarks.

Global economic uncertainties have led to cautious spending among companies, reflected in a 6.8% reduction in rented exhibition space to around 830,000 square meters. Yet, this situation underscores the resilience and adaptability of Hong Kong's exhibition industry. As businesses navigate evolving market conditions, their proactive approach highlights the potential for sustained growth and innovation in the coming years.
