A landmark decision has been reached regarding the sports included in the upcoming 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. After thorough deliberation by the Panam Sports Executive Board, a total of 36 sports have been officially selected for this prestigious continental event. Among these, cricket will make its historic first appearance at the Pan Am Games. The selection process involved a democratic approach, where preferences from the 41 National Olympic Committees guided the choice of 33 sports, while the remaining three were chosen directly by the Lima 2027 organizing committee.

The lineup features a diverse array of both traditional and modern sports. Classic Olympic disciplines such as track and field, swimming, gymnastics, and soccer are joined by regional favorites like baseball, rugby sevens, and surfing. Additionally, newer additions to the Olympic program, including skateboarding and sport climbing, will also be showcased during the event. Scheduled to take place from July 16 to August 1, the games will gather over 7,000 athletes from across the Americas, making it the largest multisport gathering in the region.
