According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on September 21, 2024, when 43-year-old Sharon Jackson was driving her white 2018 Jeep Compass northbound on Randolph Street in Frayser. Jackson is said to have veered onto the sidewalk, crashing into a mailbox before striking a group of four children. The victims, three 8-year-olds and one 7-year-old, were all transported to LeBonheur Children's Hospital for treatment of their injuries. One child required surgery to repair a dislocated hip, while others needed stitches and additional medical attention.

Suspect Flees the Scene, Claiming Gunshots as Justification

After the collision, Jackson is reported to have briefly stopped her vehicle before driving away without identifying herself or attempting to render aid to the injured children. When police later contacted her, Jackson admitted to being the driver involved in the incident but claimed she fled the scene because she had heard gunshots and another driver was chasing her, firing shots into her car.
