Monday Night Lane Closures on Route 206

Starting at 8 p.m. on Monday, December 16 and lasting until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, the left lane on Route 206 northbound near the Falcon Road/Triangle Road intersection will be closed. However, one lane will still remain open to ensure some traffic flow. Additionally, there will be lane closures on Falcon Road westbound at the Route 206 intersection, and the left lane on Triangle Road eastbound approaching Route 206 will also be closed during the same time period. These closures are essential for restriping Route 206 northbound, Falcon Road, and Triangle Road to restore the original lane configuration at the intersection.

By 6 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, the intersection will be back to its original setup. On Route 206 northbound, the dedicated left turn lane will be removed, leaving three lanes at the intersection - two through lanes and a dedicated right turn lane. The northbound ramp to Falcon Road/Triangle Road will also reopen. On Falcon Road, all four lanes at the intersection will be reopened, with two dedicated left turn lanes, one through lane, and a dedicated right turn lane. On Triangle Road eastbound, a dedicated left turn lane will be reopened, restoring four lanes - two dedicated left turn lanes, one through lane, and a dedicated right turn lane. On Triangle Road westbound, the second lane from the Route 206 intersection will be removed, with one lane being restored.

The Federally-Funded Route 206 Project

The federally-funded Route 206, Doctors Way to Valley Road project aims to create two travel lanes in each direction between Doctors Way and Valley Road. This will enhance safety and alleviate traffic congestion in the area. The project also includes the construction of a new median barrier, which will eliminate left turns to and from properties along the highway and direct turns onto newly signalized intersections and jughandles. This measure is expected to reduce turn-related crashes and optimize traffic flow.

By implementing these changes, the project is set to have a significant impact on the traffic patterns and safety in Hillsborough. It is an important initiative that will benefit both commuters and residents in the area.
