A series of events unfolded early Monday morning as law enforcement apprehended multiple teenagers following a high-speed pursuit that traversed several cities in North County, culminating in a dramatic crash at Camp Pendleton. The incident began when authorities received a report of a stolen Hyundai Sonata on Sunday night. Shortly after midnight, officers spotted the vehicle in Escondido and attempted to stop it, leading to an intense chase that covered significant ground across various jurisdictions before ending with a collision through the front gate of Camp Pendleton. Six young individuals, aged between 15 and 17, were taken into custody following the incident.

The pursuit commenced when Escondido Police responded to a report regarding a stolen Hyundai Sonata. Around midnight, they located the vehicle near El Norte Parkway and Iris Lane. Upon attempting to halt the driver, the car sped away, initiating a chase that spanned numerous miles. The vehicle ventured onto state Route 78 and Interstate 5, passing through San Marcos, Carlsbad, Vista, and Oceanside, with police hot on its trail. Eventually, the car exited onto Vandegrift Boulevard, heading straight for the main entrance of Camp Pendleton. In a final act of defiance, the vehicle crashed through concrete barriers at the base’s entry point, coming to a stop inside the premises.

The six occupants, all teenagers ranging from 15 to 17 years old, were promptly arrested. The driver faced charges including vehicle theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading police, and curfew violation. The other passengers were also detained on unspecified charges. All involved teens sustained injuries during the incident and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
