2025-03-04

In a shocking turn of events, law enforcement in Forest Hill has identified a suspect linked to the tragic deaths of a local musician and his young child at a car wash on Monday morning. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the alleged perpetrator due to the ongoing investigation. Community members, however, have named the victims as 30-year-old Ronnie Smith, recognized by his musical alias Lil Ronnie, and his five-year-old daughter.

The incident unfolded around 10:49 a.m. when police were alerted to a shooting in the 6500 block of Forest Hill Drive. Upon arrival, officers immediately attempted life-saving measures for the victims but were unable to save them. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary findings suggest that two individuals exited a white four-door Kia and approached Smith's vehicle parked at the car wash. Without warning, they opened fire before fleeing the area. Surveillance footage revealed multiple bullet casings, indicating several rounds were fired during the daylight attack.

Crime has been a growing concern in Forest Hill, with this incident occurring less than two weeks after another fatal shooting at a nearby car dealership. The community is rallying together in response to these recent tragedies. Sonja Coleman, a former city council member running for reelection, expressed her sentiments on social media, urging residents to pray for the city and calling for unity in these challenging times. Law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Rangers, are leading the investigation with support from various departments. Authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
