Expanded Flight Operations by Cathay Group to Mainland China
2025-03-28

An increase in travel demand has prompted the Cathay Group to enhance its flight operations, particularly focusing on key regions and cities within mainland China. The airline aims to meet the growing needs of both leisure and business travelers by boosting frequencies during peak periods. By providing nearly 300 weekly round-trip flights, Cathay ensures convenient access for passengers traveling between Hong Kong and various destinations across the mainland.

Among the notable changes, Beijing and Shanghai are set to benefit from expanded services. Passengers flying to Beijing will enjoy seven daily return flights to Capital International Airport, complemented by HK Express’s service to Daxing International Airport, totaling 56 weekly flights. In Shanghai, Cathay offers eight daily return flights to Pudong International Airport and an additional eleven weekly flights to Hongqiao International Airport. Other cities such as Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Haikou, and Chongqing will also see daily flights, with further enhancements planned for this summer.

The commitment to connecting more Chinese cities extends beyond major hubs. Hangzhou will receive four daily return flights, Nanjing two daily flights, Wenzhou ten weekly flights, and Wuhan twelve weekly flights. Moreover, Cathay Pacific introduces a new direct route linking Hong Kong with Urumqi starting April 28. These developments reflect the airline's dedication to fostering stronger ties between Hong Kong and mainland China, promoting economic growth and cultural exchange through improved air connectivity.
