The Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association is hosting the annual Senior Girls and Boys All-Star Basketball Games at Scranton High School. On Monday evening, Scranton High School becomes the stage for a remarkable display of athletic prowess. Kicking off the event at 5 p.m., the girls' skills competition will highlight individual talents before transitioning into the main game at 5:30 p.m. Later, at 7 p.m., the boys take center stage with their own all-star match preceded by a thrilling 3-point shooting contest.
The girls' Blue Team features four exceptional athletes from Scranton Prep, including Jenna Hillebrand, recognized as the Lackawanna Division I Player of the Year. Dunmore’s Carrie Toomey assumes coaching duties for this team, bringing along her star player Sophia Talutto. Meanwhile, Corey Gesford of Mountain View leads the Red Team, which includes Ryleigh Kilmer and Riley Turner, instrumental figures in Western Wayne's recent championship success.
For the boys, Riverside coach Josh Aniska directs the Red Team featuring Gerry Rose and Connor McNally, key contributors to Riverside's District 2 Class 3A title. Representing Scranton are Pedro Lugo, Jayden Burrell, and Jaheam Roberts, whose leadership helped secure three consecutive District 2 Class 6A championships. On the opposing side, Jimmy McAndrew of Mountain View captains the Blue Team, comprising notable players such as Jackson Gesford and Holy Cross duo Michael Hughes and Matt Lyons.
