Free Performing Arts Tickets for Veterans with Sensory Impairments
2025-04-20

A collaboration between Access Virginia and the Virginia Beach chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America is providing complimentary tickets to military veterans experiencing hearing or vision challenges. These veterans can enjoy selected live performances in the Hampton Roads region, featuring an array of theatrical productions designed to entertain and inspire. The initiative aims to enhance accessibility by offering specialized accommodations such as captioning and audio descriptions.

Among the featured events are captivating stage shows like “Footloose” taking place at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts on April 26, followed by “Pretty Woman” at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk on May 10. Other notable performances include “Memphis the Musical,” “As You Love It,” and “Pippin,” each held at distinct venues across the area. Eligible veterans receive two tickets per person, with prior registration being mandatory to secure their spots.

Cultural enrichment knows no bounds, and initiatives like these underscore the importance of inclusivity in the arts. By extending opportunities for sensory-impaired veterans to engage with live performances, this program highlights a commitment to fostering community engagement and appreciation for the performing arts among those who have served our nation.
