2025-03-29

For the second consecutive year, the Fox School of Business successfully merged fashion with professionalism through an innovative event. Three Temple University clubs collaborated to highlight how personal style can coexist with business attire. The main objective was to demonstrate that individuals can express their personality while adhering to professional dress codes. The event featured a student-led fashion show, showcasing a variety of professional styles, followed by a networking session with hiring managers from prominent fashion and beauty brands.

The event not only provided a platform for students to explore career opportunities in fashion but also offered insights into the roles within these industries. It bridged the gap for students who lack access to a formal fashion minor, providing them with real-world exposure to the intersection of fashion and business.

Student-Led Fashion Show: Bridging Style and Professionality

This section of the event began with an exhilarating fashion show orchestrated entirely by students. Participants, many of whom were first-time models, enthusiastically strutted down the runway. Twenty-three students individually presented diverse looks ranging from vibrant to subdued tones, classic to contemporary designs. This segment effectively illustrated that professional attire does not have to be monotonous; it can reflect individuality while maintaining a polished appearance.

The fashion show was more than just a display of clothing; it served as a testament to the creativity and confidence of the participants. Each model showcased their unique interpretation of professional wear, proving that business attire can embrace both personality and professionalism. From tailored suits to chic casual outfits, the runway highlighted the versatility of professional fashion. The finale, where all participants walked together, symbolized unity and collaboration among peers. This aspect of the event resonated with attendees, emphasizing that fashion is a powerful tool for self-expression even within corporate environments.

Networking Opportunities: Insights into Fashion and Business Careers

Following the fashion show, attendees engaged with representatives from renowned fashion and beauty companies. Brands such as Burlington, Nordstrom, and URGN were present, offering students a chance to connect with potential employers. Junior Business Management student Gia James appreciated the intimate setting of the fair, which reduced intimidation and fostered meaningful interactions. Conversations with industry professionals illuminated various career paths and responsibilities within the fashion sector, aiding students in aligning their interests with potential careers.

The networking session proved invaluable for students eager to learn about the intricacies of working in fashion and beauty. Representatives shared insights about their roles, providing glimpses into the day-to-day operations of their respective companies. This interaction allowed students to understand the multifaceted nature of careers in the industry, encouraging them to envision themselves contributing to this dynamic field. For those without access to a formal fashion minor, this event was particularly significant, offering a practical glimpse into the world of fashion and business. Through dialogue and engagement, students gained clarity on potential career trajectories, empowering them to pursue opportunities confidently.
