Google has introduced a method for users to clean their Pixel Buds Pro 2 effectively without causing any damage. This guide addresses the issue of unwanted noise or audio problems caused by debris accumulation in the earbuds' rear vent mesh. To achieve optimal cleaning, Google recommends using micellar water, an extra-soft toothbrush, and a paper towel while avoiding substances like alcohol or detergents that might harm the device's components.
The rear vent mesh, located on the outer part of each earbud, plays a crucial role in maintaining sound quality. When this area becomes clogged with dirt, dust, or earwax, it can significantly degrade the audio experience. Google emphasizes that improper cleaning tools, such as cotton swabs, can push debris further into the mesh or leave residues behind.
To begin the cleaning process, prepare two cups—one filled with regular water and the other with micellar water. Saturate the bristles of the toothbrush in the micellar water and gently brush the mesh in circular motions for about 15 seconds. Afterward, dry the earbud by blotting it on a paper towel. Repeat this process twice to ensure thorough cleaning.
Rinse the toothbrush by dipping it first in micellar water and then in regular water to remove any earwax residue. Brush the mesh one last time with the same circular motion for another 15 seconds. Allow the Pixel Buds Pro 2 to air dry for at least two hours before using them again. For additional cleaning, apply the same steps to the snout mesh and cap mesh areas.
Beyond the earbuds themselves, Google also provides instructions for cleaning the charging case, ensuring comprehensive maintenance of the entire product. By following these guidelines, users can maintain the pristine performance of their Pixel Buds Pro 2, enhancing both comfort and audio clarity.
