The event occurred on a Friday evening when authorities received a call and proceeded to the Fendrich Golf Course. Upon arrival, they encountered a 75-year-old man inside his parked car with the engine off. During the interaction, it became evident that the man was under the influence of alcohol, leading to his arrest on charges related to driving under the influence (DUI).

The unusual circumstances surrounding this case began to unfold just before 8:30 PM on a Friday night. Authorities were summoned to the Fendrich Golf Course located on East Diamond Avenue. Upon reaching the scene, officers found Robert Hagood, aged 75, seated in his vehicle. When informed by the police that he was not on the road, Hagood appeared confused and mentioned he was attempting to exit the Lloyd Expressway. This statement raised further suspicion about his state of mind and sobriety.

Hagood's condition became more apparent as the officers tried to conduct a field sobriety test. His speech was noticeably slurred, and he struggled with balance, requiring assistance from the officers to remain steady. A subsequent blood alcohol concentration (BAC) test revealed a level of .189, significantly above the legal limit. This result confirmed the severity of his intoxication.

Following these findings, Hagood was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he faced charges for drunk driving.
