The term minimalism was coined by Richard Wollheim in 1965 in an article titled “Minimal Art” published in Arts Magazine. The movement promotes simplicity, essentiality, and mental and physical decluttering. While the style originated in the 1960s, it has regained popularity in recent years, partly due to its timeless elegance and partly as a response to consumerism, which has filled our homes with unnecessary products and items. It’s a philosophy that encourages people to reflect on what truly matters to them and eliminate everything else, shifting the focus from quantity to quality in every aspect of life, from material possessions to negative thoughts. Getting rid of excess frees up space in our homes and minds, allowing us to focus on what truly makes us happy and satisfied, and additionally helps the environment and reduces overproduction.
