In recognition of their exceptional theatrical production, Perry High School's theater department is set to participate in the prestigious 2025 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase. This event honors the school’s remarkable performance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” staged earlier in April. Hosted by Des Moines Performing Arts as part of an extensive year-long educational initiative, this showcase will gather over a hundred adjudicated schools from across Iowa. The ceremony will take place on May 29 at the Des Moines Civic Center and feature special performances from select students, including Olivia Christensen and Ethan Jackson from Perry High School.

Students Represent Perry High with Honors

In a celebration of creativity and talent, Perry High School will be well-represented at the upcoming awards showcase. Olivia Christensen and Ethan Jackson have been chosen to perform in a grand inter-school finale medley alongside other talented students under the direction of renowned Broadway professionals Christopher Littlefield and Tiger Brown. Additionally, Hunter Ayers, who portrayed William Barfee in the school's acclaimed production, will present an excerpt from his award-winning role. The school has also garnered several accolades, such as Outstanding Achievement in a Principal Role for Hunter Ayers, Special Recognition in a Principal Role for Olivia Christensen, and Distinguished Scene for "The I Love You Song."
