Police Officer Injured in Vehicle Incident in Chicago

A law enforcement officer sustained injuries after being struck by a fleeing vehicle during an incident in Chicago's South Austin district on Saturday night. Around 11:30 PM, police officers conducting foot patrols encountered a large gathering on North Lamon Avenue. During this encounter, a 22-year-old individual attempted to drive away from the scene in a gray sedan. Unfortunately, the vehicle collided with one of the officers, causing the officer to fall and suffer an ankle injury.

The suspect's vehicle was eventually stopped, leading to the arrest of the driver. Both the injured officer and the driver were transported to nearby medical facilities for evaluation. The officer was reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital, while the driver was also assessed at Loretto Hospital and remained in good health. Harrison Area detectives have initiated an investigation into the incident, with potential charges under consideration.
