Shoppers have been heaping glowing praise on a designer primer that gives “flawless” and “airbrushed” skin – and it is now on offer at Boots.
The high street health and beauty retailer is currently offering bargain hunters the opportunity to save £10 across select premium branded beauty icons. Included in the sale is the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer (30ml).
Originally priced at £30.50, this “luminous” designer primer has been reduced to £20.50, making it the cheapest price you can currently buy it for. The same 30ml bottle is priced at £33 at Lookfantastic, £28 at Sephora UK and £35 at John Lewis.
With a “light-infused” formula, this YSL Blur Primer is said to “blur uneven pigmentation”, while “blurring fine lines and wrinkles”. The gel formula is said to “apply so smoothly” to your face and “stops foundation from creasing”, according to a few beauty fans.
Designed to be used under your makeup, the iconic designer brand has said that its Blur Primer was inspired by its highly coveted Touche Éclat Illuminating Pen. It has also been designed to give your makeup a long-lasting finish, with some shoppers saying it “lasts all day”.
The YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer has managed to garner an impressive 4.7 rating on the cosmetics chain’s website, with hundreds of five-star reviews say that it “blurs fine lines” and has made wrinkles “disappear.”
One beauty buff wrote: “This primer is one of the best primers I’ve ever used. It’s a little bit pricey but it’s honestly makes my skin feel so velvety and amazing. My foundation sits perfectly on top of it and makes it last so much longer. I have quite dry but oily skin and this primer does wonders for it. I really do recommend spending the extra money on this primer. You actually get so much product and it has lasted me a really long time so far. I cannot say anything bad about it.

A second positive review read: “I was sceptical at first as I’ve never used a primer before, but this has changed my daily make up routine. It has tiny specks of gold which gives my skin a luminous effect. It is the perfect base for applying my foundation as it goes on so much easier and my skin looks brighter and feels soft.”
Another shopper praised: “This is probably one of my favourite primers hands down! Not only does my face look flawless and airbrushed and natural but it actually makes my face feel beautiful and blurred. I have no texture on my face and this seems to blur the uneven pigmentation around my eyes and lips a little.”
Beauty deal of the week
As a beauty writer, I am always on the lookout for new products for my skincare routine that will deliver proven-results. It’s also even better if I can find one loved by A-listers that is budget-friendly, which is why exactly I set out to try the Astral Intensive Face and Body Moisturiser.
Despite just £4 on Amazon and hailed as an “old school” moisturiser, this cream boasts thousands of fans who say it has left their skin “wrinkle free”. In fact, even Dame Joanna Lumley is a fan, with the cream being a staple in her routine for 40 years.
Considering I am now 30 years old, my skincare routine is now focused on fighting the early signs of ageing, whilst also trying to save some pennies. So, if it is good enough for Dame Joanna, then I hoped it would be good enough for me.
Even after just one day of use, I found that the cream instantly left my skin feeling refreshed and replenished, both in the morning and the evening. In fact, it felt so velvety soft that it would make an ideal base for makeup if you use it during the day, but I felt confident enough to go makeup free, thanks to the bit of glow it gave my skin.
After trialling the Astral Intensive Moisturiser for seven days to get a feel for it, I have decided that it will be a new staple in my skincare routine. As well as look, my skin felt soft, hydrated and very supple. While I might not have deep wrinkles and fine lines (just yet) to judge its anti-ageing qualities, I can say that I agree with reviews that say it “does make a difference” to your overall skin health.
You can try out the Astral Intensive Face & Body Moisturiser for yourself by purchasing a 200ml tub for £4 on Amazon here.
And a fourth exclaimed: “LOVE LOVE LOVE this primer, leaves skin looking absolutely amazing and feels very nice and silky. Face feels smooth and almost airbrushed due the primer really blurring some fine lines. Would happily purchase this again and recommend to my friends. I also like that it’s a pump bottle so no wastage and and can use just the right amount, which isn’t a lot, so bottle should last a long time.”
And another happy shopper said: “I actually use this after applying foundation which is not what the instructions say but it works better for me. Seriously the fine wrinkles on my forehead seem to disappear as the serum goes on – it’s obviously an illusion but it is an amazing product.”
One shopper did find that the primer “wasn’t suitable for her oily skin”, as she wrote: “Tried this on myself and a friend. Looked gorgeous on her skin but for me, someone who has a very oily t-zone, it just made it worse.”
Shoppers can purchase the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer (30ml) for £20.50, down from £30.50, on the Boots website here.
For beauty fans who are looking to get that luminous finish, then another suitable option would be Charlotte Tilbury’s £40 Wonderglow Face Primer. The super-charged formula of this primer has been clinically proven to “blur imperfections”.
Meanwhile, if you’re on the market for a more budget friendly option, then you can snap up the Revolution Beauty pore Blur Primer for just £6.99 from Amazon. The primer boasts Vitamin E to help hydrate and nourish your skin, creating a smooth makeup base.
