Providence's New Food Hall: Track 15 Opens with a Grand Selection

A new culinary destination has emerged in Providence, Rhode Island, as the much-anticipated food hall Track 15 officially opens its doors after four years of planning and construction. Nestled in the historic Union Station, this vibrant space features an array of eateries offering diverse cuisines alongside a full-service bar. Developed by Marsella Development Corporation, the project cost $25 million and spans 16,000 square feet. The design preserves many original elements from the building's past life as a train station, including barrel-vaulted ceilings and granite walls. With seven unique restaurants under one roof, Track 15 provides guests with a fast-casual dining experience that blends innovation with nostalgia.

The heart of Track 15 lies in its collection of seven distinct restaurants, each specializing in different global flavors. Dune Brothers brings a seafood and raw bar experience, while There, There serves up burgers and fries. For Mexican cuisine, Dolores offers tacos and more, and Giusto presents Italian dishes. Mother Pizzeria contributes authentic pizza baked in a Marra Forni oven imported from Italy. Little Chaska introduces Indian street food, and Tolia, the first venture for its owners, showcases Anatolian-inspired Turkish dishes. Most of these establishments are sister restaurants to acclaimed venues across Rhode Island, but Tolia stands out as a fresh addition led by Alp Gumuscu and Tarci-Lee Galarza.

The communal atmosphere at Track 15 extends beyond just sharing meals. Each restaurant operates independently yet collaboratively, fostering camaraderie among chefs and operators. Sanjiv Dhar, owner of multiple Indian restaurants, expressed excitement about launching his first quick-service eatery here. Kyle Stamp, chef and co-owner of Mother Pizzeria, embraced the challenge of adapting his signature service style to a faster format. Ordering involves using credit cards or Apple Pay, with customers providing their phone numbers to receive notifications when their orders are ready. Once served on fine china with stainless steel cutlery, diners can choose from various seating options, including communal tables and cozy nooks near windows.

Beverage enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy at the bar, featuring both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Cocktails range from classic favorites to innovative zero-proof creations, complemented by local craft beers and an extensive wine list. Non-alcoholic options include Yacht Club sodas and Granny Squibb’s Iced Tea. Beyond drinks, dessert lovers have choices ranging from Mother Pizzeria's sundae creation to Giusto's tiramisu and Dolores' churros.

Track 15 not only honors its location's rich history through its name but also through its architectural details. Originally built in 1898 with 14 intercity rail lines, the Union Station now symbolizes a modern convergence of cultures and flavors. Open daily from 11 a.m., it offers discounted parking nearby, making it accessible for all visitors. This remarkable fusion of tradition and innovation promises to redefine dining experiences in Providence.
