Art Week Riyadh (AWR) emerged as a groundbreaking event that challenges traditional notions of art exhibitions. From April 6-13, this initiative by Saudi Arabia’s Visual Arts Commission (VAC) brought together galleries in an unconventional setting designed to foster cultural engagement rather than commercial transactions. Although the exhibition featured available artworks and facilitated sales, its organizers emphasized its non-commercial nature, aiming to create an environment for artistic exploration. Notable highlights included captivating installations and paintings from both local and international artists, showcasing a diverse range of creative expressions.

The structure of AWR mirrored aspects of an art fair, yet it retained distinct characteristics. Thirty-two galleries occupied a central hall within Jax, a vibrant creative district in Diriyah.
