Goggans initially envisioned herself pursuing a career in international affairs, even contemplating working with the U.S. Department of State. However, her path took a dramatic turn after graduating with honors in international relations, Russian studies, and music from Rhodes College in Tennessee. Following a stint teaching English in Estonia as part of a Fulbright program, she discovered a renewed appreciation for music. This newfound realization led her to SIU, where she immersed herself in choral conducting and found joy in sharing her passion with others.
