Town leaders are contemplating the reinstatement of "Food Truck Tuesday," an event that was last held in 2019. This initiative aims to breathe new life into downtown Georgetown through collaboration between the town and the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. The proposed schedule involves hosting food trucks on East Market Street twice monthly from May through August, during lunch hours.

As part of efforts to rejuvenate downtown activity, Linda Price, President of the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, emphasizes the importance of attracting visitors to stop and enjoy what the area has to offer. With many offices transitioning back from remote work setups, this event seeks to draw people back into the town center. If approved, four food trucks will operate every other Tuesday starting in May, offering diverse cuisines that complement rather than compete with local restaurants.

The community's desire for engaging events is evident, as expressed by Price, who notes the interest in family-friendly gatherings. Among those keen to participate is Alvin Marshall, owner of the "2nd to None" food truck, who views the event as a valuable opportunity for exposure and culinary appreciation. Organizers have already secured commitments from vendors for May and June, ensuring a varied menu rotation.

Town council members are set to deliberate on approving this initiative at their upcoming meeting, signaling a hopeful step toward revitalizing downtown Georgetown.
