2025-03-31

Riot Games has introduced Riftbound, its latest trading card game (TCG) set in the world of Runeterra. This universe is well-known for League of Legends and Arcane. Featuring over 300 cards in its debut collection titled Origins, Riftbound aims to captivate fans through its diverse gameplay modes and character-rich content. Initially launching in China this summer, it will expand to English-speaking regions on October 25. The game incorporates champions as powerful cards, allowing players to construct decks centered around these figures with supplementary cards.

Set within the expansive realm of Runeterra, Riftbound offers multiple gameplay formats including one-on-one, two-on-two, and free-for-all multiplayer matches. Drawing inspiration from Legend of Runeterra, a digital counterpart, Riftbound features key characters like Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin, each forming part of pre-built Champion Decks. Additional notable champions such as Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, and Yasuo are also expected to make appearances. Beyond champions, the game includes various in-game items, runes, and spells enhancing strategic depth.

Players have the option to start their Riftbound journey with boxed sets named Riftbound: Proving Grounds or by purchasing 14-card booster packs. To ensure widespread availability, Riot Games collaborates with UVS Games, a prominent distributor in the TCG industry. Fans can anticipate finding Riftbound at local gaming stores that carry UniVersus Collectible Card Game, known for its roster of popular franchises.

The release of Riftbound marks an exciting new chapter for Riot Games in the collectible card game landscape. By leveraging beloved characters and expanding into physical card gaming, Riot aims to engage both existing fans and newcomers alike. With its versatile gameplay options and strategic elements, Riftbound promises to deliver an immersive experience rooted in the rich lore of Runeterra.
