When you’re searching for the right piece of jewelry, it’s not only about liking the piece you select: it’s also about liking and trusting the jeweler you’re buying it from. For half a century, at Lake of the Ozarks has welcomed and treated customers like family — it’s a family-owned business after all.
Carla Kenyon Laney, whose parents founded the store in 1972, emphasized their commitment to multiple generations of customers at Lake of the Ozarks.
“We are truly a full service jewelry store,” said Carla. “We have something for everybody. Their vision has always been to be a jewelry store that anyone can shop in, at any budget.”

Stepping into KK Jewelers’ spacious 2,000-sq-ft showroom can feel like entering a treasure trove. But don’t worry if you’re overwhelmed; the friendly staff is always on hand to provide personalized assistance. Whether you’re browsing the fine jewelry section for an engagement ring or exploring fashion and pre-owned estate jewelry, purses, Seiko watches….
…or even affordable options like $10 sterling silver rings or items from the $1.99 section, there’s something for everyone.
KK Jewelers has an array of beautiful natural diamonds available, and the family works hard to provide options for many budgets. Something new at the store is their lab-created diamonds, which lets customers customize their piece at a lower price point. These diamonds are produced under similar conditions as natural ones.
(Tip: When you’re selecting diamonds at KK Jewelers, be sure and ask for Chase, their 3rd-generation in-house specialist.)
“You can get a lot more sparkle for your money,” said Carla, likening it to ice. “You can go outside to chip out nature-made ice or you can make it in the refrigerator. All the properties are the same.”

What sets KK Jewelers apart is their unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Eric Kenyon, son of Ruth and John, has been the full-time jeweler since he completed his schooling in 1985. His honesty and expertise keeps customers coming back over and over again, sometimes bringing them to him even after they have relocated out of the area. Customers can rest assured that their pieces are safe, because all repairs are done in-house and will never leave the premises.
“If they have an issue, then we’ll do everything that we can to resolve it,” said Carla. “Maybe they don’t have the finances right away for a bigger purchase, we offer layaway at no extra charge.”
This dedication is a legacy passed down from owner Ruth Kenyon. At 79 years young, Ruth continues to be an integral part of the business, but she looks forward to seeing her family carry on the tradition for years to come.
“The way I look at it, we are a true down-home family business,” Ruth said. “We have so many customers who began shopping with us when they came in with their grandmothers. Now their children’s children are shopping with us.”
KK Jewelers is a community staple at the Lake that’s cherished across generations. A place for those special one-of-a-kind pieces. The store where person of any age and budget is able to find the merchandise they want.
“I always feel like once they get in our door and we sell something to them, they’ll come back because they see what wonderful value we have,” said Ruth. “We’ll always take really good care of them.”
