Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, Sundt Construction has appointed an experienced internal candidate to lead its Southwest division within the Building Group. The company, known for its extensive history and innovative projects, has promoted Stew Grauer to senior vice president and Southwest district manager. This strategic move comes amidst other organizational changes at the 135-year-old firm, reflecting a commitment to leadership continuity and expertise.
With over four decades of construction experience, Stew Grauer brings invaluable knowledge to his new role. His journey with Sundt spans 16 years, during which he held various leadership positions such as preconstruction project manager, operations manager, and division manager for the Concrete Division. As the newly appointed senior vice president and Southwest district manager, Grauer will oversee preconstruction, operations, and business development across Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Grauer's career exemplifies versatility and depth, having worked on diverse projects ranging from government buildings to mixed-use developments, healthcare facilities, data centers, courts, detention centers, laboratories, and educational institutions. His extensive portfolio aligns perfectly with Sundt's specialized areas of focus, making him an ideal choice for leading the Southwest team.
This appointment follows other significant changes within the organization. In October, Cade Rowley assumed the roles of president and COO, further solidifying Sundt's dedication to fostering strong leadership from within. Throughout its storied history, Sundt has undertaken remarkable projects, including constructing the University of Arizona, contributing to the Los Alamos National Laboratory during the Manhattan Project era, and famously relocating London Bridge to Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Currently, the company is engaged in a $174 million infrastructure project widening Interstate 10 in El Paso, Texas. With offices spread across multiple states, Sundt continues to expand its reach and influence in the construction industry. Additionally, Grauer’s credentials include certifications from prestigious organizations like the Design-Build Institute of America and the American Institute of Constructors, complemented by a bachelor’s degree in construction management from the University of Washington.
The promotion of Stew Grauer underscores Sundt Construction's emphasis on promoting seasoned professionals who possess both technical expertise and leadership acumen. As the company moves forward, it remains committed to delivering high-quality projects while nurturing talent internally, ensuring sustained growth and success in the ever-evolving construction landscape.
