During their investigation in July 2024, it is claimed that Justin McMillan and Justin Colon deliberately turned off their body cameras before entering a residential building. Upon confronting a woman at the entrance, they reportedly used her key to re-enter the premises hours later. Inside, they encountered a situation involving a man and a woman, which resulted in the man fleeing. Following this, accusations arose that the officers engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the woman and subsequently stole money from her purse, as stated by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

The judicial process has commenced for McMillan and Colon, who pleaded not guilty to charges including burglary, forcible touching, petit larceny, and official misconduct. They were released after their court appearance on Monday, with their next hearing scheduled for April 28. The officers, still on probationary status since joining the police academy in 2023, have been suspended without pay pending further legal actions.
