VHS Social Club: A Nostalgic Haven in Columbus
2025-03-28

A new establishment is set to bring a wave of nostalgia to the Brewery District in Columbus. Rhome Ruanphae, the creative mind behind Basil Thai and Buddha Bowl, is gearing up to unveil VHS Social Club. This unique concept will occupy the former site of Brick An American Kitchen and aims to open its doors later this year. With a focus on celebrating the charm of bygone eras, this venue promises an immersive experience for patrons eager to relive their past.

Rhome Ruanphae, a self-proclaimed Gen X enthusiast, envisions VHS Social Club as a tribute to the iconic VHS tapes that defined his generation. The club will feature a retro atmosphere reminiscent of 80s dive bars, complete with regular movie nights dedicated to classic films. Guests can expect a space adorned with vintage movie memorabilia, creating an ambiance that transports them back in time.

Adding to the nostalgic appeal, the venue will offer Nintendo and Super Nintendo gaming systems connected to in-house televisions. Patrons can enjoy a drink while engaging in some friendly competition or simply reliving childhood memories through these beloved games. Spanning nearly 3,000 square feet, VHS Social Club will reside on the second floor of the expansive Brewery District property acquired by Ruanphae last year.

The club will emphasize happy hour service, providing a relaxed environment for after-work gatherings. Additionally, it will feature a compact kitchen offering a selection of themed menu items inspired by pop culture classics. Dishes like the Breakfast Club sandwich, ET Fried Chicken, and a "PAC-MAN" Burger promise to satisfy both appetites and nostalgic cravings.

With its vibrant blend of retro decor, interactive gaming experiences, and themed cuisine, VHS Social Club is poised to become a cherished destination for those seeking a taste of the past. As it prepares to welcome guests later this year, anticipation builds for an experience that seamlessly combines the comfort of nostalgia with modern-day entertainment.
