In a remarkable rescue operation, a woman was successfully saved on Tuesday after enduring six days trapped in her overturned vehicle in Newton County, Indiana. Brieonna Cassell, aged 41 and residing in Wheatfield, had been reported missing by local authorities for nearly a week. Her unexpected discovery came as a relief to many.
The breakthrough in locating Cassell occurred when Johnny Martinez, an employee of Deyoung Drainage, spotted an abandoned car off the road near the intersection of County Road 600S and County Road 300E, close to the Newton County Landfill. Recognizing something was amiss, Martinez alerted his supervisor, who then contacted Morocco Fire Chief Jeremy Vanderwall. Upon investigation, they found Cassell inside the vehicle, conscious and able to communicate, though visibly injured. She had managed to survive in the wrecked car for almost a week under challenging conditions.
Cassell was promptly airlifted to a hospital in Chicago for medical treatment. The severity of her injuries has not been disclosed.
