2025-03-31

In an exciting development for baseball enthusiasts in South Carolina, the Columbia Fireflies have announced a collaboration with WIS to broadcast fourteen games during their upcoming 2025 season. These games will air on Palmetto Sports & Entertainment, WIS channel 10.4, and WTES 16.2, offering fans a chance to enjoy Minor League Baseball from the comfort of their homes. This marks the second year of this partnership, which aims to bring more local sports content to the community.

The decision to extend the partnership between the Columbia Fireflies and WIS was praised by both organizations. According to WIS Vice President and General Manager Robby Thomas, the Fireflies represent an ideal alliance for enhancing local sports broadcasting. Each game will feature a thirty-minute pre-game and post-game show, streamed live from Segra Park by commentators John Kocsis, Jr., and Courtney Hollman. Columbia Fireflies President Brad Shank expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reach a broader audience through this collaboration.

This initiative not only benefits viewers but also strengthens the connection between the team and its supporters. The schedule includes matchups against teams such as the Charleston RiverDogs, Carolina Mudcats, and Augusta GreenJackets, among others. Specific dates range from early April through late August, ensuring diverse coverage throughout the season.

Beyond broadcasting, WIS plans to engage further with fans through special events. One highlight is "WIS Night" on June 10, where attendees can enjoy giveaways, live reports, and appearances by WIS personalities. Additionally, WIS will participate in Military Appreciation Night on May 2, honoring veterans and fallen service members with a dedicated tribute.

As anticipation builds for the Fireflies' home opener on April 8, fans are encouraged to secure their tickets online. With expanded broadcasts and community-focused activities, the 2025 season promises to be memorable for all involved. Fans eager to stay updated can subscribe to newsletters or download relevant apps provided by WIS.

Ahead of the new season, the synergy between the Columbia Fireflies and WIS exemplifies a commitment to fostering a vibrant local sports culture.
