Annual Children's Festival Brings Joy and Culture to Ko Olina Resort
2025-05-09

An exciting day of music, culture, and family-friendly activities is set to unfold at the 9th Annual Ko Olina Children’s Festival. Taking place on Saturday, May 10, from 3 to 8 p.m., this vibrant event will transform the Grand Lawn at Ulua Lagoon #4 into a hub of creativity and fun for children aged three and up. All funds raised during the festival will support the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, reinforcing its role as the premier pediatric care facility in the Pacific region. Since its inception in 2014, the festival has contributed nearly $450,000 to this vital institution.

The festival promises an engaging lineup of performances and interactive experiences. Young talents from Kapena School of Music will captivate audiences with their island-inspired melodies, while Nyjah Music & Zyah Rhythm blend heartfelt rhythms with soulful R&B. Families can also immerse themselves in a magical cultural journey alongside beloved Disney characters through Aulani’s ‘Ohana Hula with Friends segment. Beyond the stage, hands-on workshops await, where children can craft planters from recycled materials, design leis, and explore Hawaiian traditions such as kapa artistry. Educational booths focus on marine safety, coral reef conservation, and global environmental stewardship, offering lessons that resonate far beyond the festival grounds.

This celebration of community and culture extends beyond entertainment, fostering awareness and responsibility among young participants. Through partnerships with organizations like Malama Learning Center, Honolulu Ocean Safety, and the Peace Corps, attendees gain insights into preserving natural resources and promoting international collaboration. Families can also meet Ruby, the medical center’s cherished canine ambassador, and enjoy health-related activities. As the sun sets, guests are invited to relax under the stars for a special outdoor screening of “Moana 2,” rounding off the day with cinematic magic. Such initiatives highlight the importance of nurturing both personal well-being and environmental harmony, inspiring future generations to embrace positive change.
