2025-05-04

An eagerly anticipated annual sporting event in Washington, North Carolina, recently took place to support a local children’s hospital. This weekend gathering, known as the Colony Tire & Pinnacle Trailer Sales Sporting Clays Miracle Shoot, marks its 28th year and serves as a significant fundraiser for the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center. The two-day competition not only showcases shooting skills but also fosters community spirit, bringing together participants who aim to make a difference in the lives of young patients. With over $100,000 raised in recent years, this event has become one of the largest organized shoots in both the state and nation.

A Community Coming Together for a Worthy Cause

In the heart of Eastern North Carolina, under the vibrant autumn skies, individuals gathered at Hunters’ Pointe Sporting Clays for an unforgettable weekend. On Saturday, seasoned shooters and enthusiasts alike participated in the prestigious Colony Tire & Pinnacle Trailer Sales Sporting Clays Miracle Shoot. Since its inception in 1996, this event has grown exponentially, attracting more than 600 participants annually. Each shot fired contributes directly to the Log A Load For Kids initiative, which supports numerous Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals across the United States.

This year, participants competed for top honors while enjoying raffles featuring luxurious prizes such as a gun safe and entries into a 50-gun drawing. Broadcast personalities Charlie Ironmonger and Baileigh Bockover from WITN joined the festivities, adding their voices to the celebration of this impactful cause. All funds raised will benefit the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital, ensuring that vital medical care continues to reach those in need.

Through events like these, communities demonstrate the power of collective effort. It is inspiring to witness how a single activity can unite so many people toward a common goal—improving the health and well-being of children. Such initiatives remind us of the importance of giving back and highlight the potential we all have to create positive change in our world. By participating in or supporting fundraisers such as the Sporting Clays Miracle Shoot, we contribute not just financially but emotionally, strengthening bonds within our communities.
