Apple Unveils Enhanced AI Features for Vision Pro with visionOS 2.4 Update
2025-02-21

In a significant move, Apple has announced that the Vision Pro will receive an array of artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements through the upcoming visionOS 2.4 update in April. The company is rolling out a developer beta today to cater to those eager for early access. These new features are designed to elevate user experiences by integrating AI capabilities such as Writing Tools, Image Playground, and Genmoji. Additionally, the update includes several apps and tweaks aimed at making the headset more practical and enjoyable for users. The introduction of these features marks a step toward making the Vision Pro more accessible to consumers.

The Vision Pro's AI rollout begins with foundational tools that enhance productivity and creativity. Writing Tools will assist users in summarizing, rewriting, and proofreading text, while also generating content. Image Playground offers a platform for creating AI-generated imagery, providing artists and enthusiasts with new ways to express themselves. Genmoji allows users to craft personalized emojis and stickers using AI technology. These features were initially introduced on Macs equipped with M1 chips, and now the Vision Pro, powered by M2 hardware, can support them seamlessly. Initially, Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro supports English, but the company plans to introduce additional languages and features throughout the year.

Beyond AI functionalities, Apple has introduced several applications and adjustments to boost the utility of the Vision Pro. A new Spatial Gallery app exclusive to the device will showcase spatial videos, photos, and panoramas from Apple, offering users another way to experience immersive content. This app will feature stories and experiences from brands like Red Bull, known for its 360-degree VR videos, as well as behind-the-scenes material from Apple shows such as "Severance" and "Shrinking." Furthermore, a dedicated iPhone app for the Vision Pro will allow users to manage their headset experience remotely. They can add apps and games, explore content for later viewing, and stay updated on new releases, including nearly 300 3D movies available for the headset.

visionOS 2.4 also brings improvements to Guest User mode, enabling owners to initiate guest sessions via their iPhone or iPad. Users can now remotely select which apps are available to guests and start AirPlay mirroring without having to wear the headset first. These changes aim to streamline the process and make the Vision Pro more user-friendly. While the device remains a high-end product, these updates signal Apple's commitment to enhancing consumer accessibility and usability. As the company continues to refine the Vision Pro platform, it paves the way for broader adoption and future innovations in spatial computing.
