2025-04-18

A new collaboration between Town Square Community Center and Art MidWisconsin promises to invigorate the local art scene this summer. Set to take place at the Town Square Community Center on Hill Street, the initiative will feature a diverse array of workshops, lectures, and hands-on experiences designed for all levels of artistic engagement. Spanning from May through September, these programs aim to foster creativity and community connection while offering opportunities for both beginners and seasoned artists to refine their skills.

The partnership introduces eighteen programs divided into three categories: Foundational Artist Workshops, Premier Artist Workshops, and the Summer Evenings Art Lecture Series. These offerings cater to everyone from novices exploring their first brushstroke to experienced creators seeking advanced techniques. Through mediums like acrylics, oils, watercolors, and sculpture, the foundational workshops provide an accessible entry point for those eager to delve into the world of art-making.

Kris Anderson, Executive Director of Town Square, emphasized the importance of this alliance in aligning with the organization's mission to enhance community vibrancy through inclusive programming. "This collaboration not only brings our mission to life but also invites individuals from all walks of life to partake in something creative and inspiring," stated Anderson.

Premier Artist Workshops are tailored for practicing artists aiming to elevate their craft. Covering topics such as abstract painting, color theory, and plein-air technique, these sessions encourage participants to push conventional boundaries and expand their artistic horizons within a nurturing environment.

Dick Folse, a renowned painter coordinating the partnership, expressed excitement about merging Art MidWisconsin's talent with Town Square's resources. "Our shared vision is to cultivate community through the arts by providing avenues for learning, expression, and meaningful interaction," remarked Folse.

Additionally, the Summer Evenings Art Lecture Series offers engaging evening discussions led by professional artists and historians. These talks demystify contemporary art concepts, making art history and theory enjoyable and approachable for all attendees.
