Joveth, a Santa Barbara-based musician, defines his unique style as "sci-fi pop," which incorporates elements from various genres such as hip-hop, rock, and R&B. Originally from the Philippines but raised in Sweden before moving to America, he is set to release his first EP, Lonely Boy, on April 4. The upcoming album reflects themes of inner child, healing, and love, drawing inspiration from his childhood experiences up to his present-day journey as an artist. Joveth has spent years crafting this EP, blending personal challenges and relationships into his music.
His passion for music began at age 12 when he started creating tunes in his bedroom, inspired by the vibrant karaoke culture in the Philippines and musical performances. Teaching himself songwriting and production, Joveth's style evolved under the influence of artists like James Blunt, The Weeknd, John Legend, and James Bellion. Relocating to Santa Barbara at 20, he interned at a recording studio and enrolled in SBCC classes. His creative process emphasizes capturing the essence and spirituality of his pieces, while maintaining originality. Signed with Voracious Records in 2023, Joveth aims to connect with listeners through his music, focusing on the positive aspects of processing difficult experiences.
Joveth’s musical journey spans across three continents, each contributing distinct cultural influences to his artistry. Born in the Philippines, where he was immersed in a rich musical environment, he later moved to Sweden, where his interest in music deepened during his school years. This period allowed him to explore his emotions through music and manage life's challenges. Eventually relocating to Santa Barbara, California, Joveth embraced new opportunities, including interning at a renowned recording studio and studying at SBCC.
The diverse cultural tapestry of his life significantly shapes Joveth's sound. From the lively karaoke traditions of the Philippines to the structured educational systems of Sweden, and finally to the innovative music scene in America, each stop along his path added layers to his artistic identity. His early fascination with music magazines and recording techniques became a daily ritual that continues to this day. In Santa Barbara, Joveth found a supportive community that nurtured his growth as a musician. His approach to music creation involves starting with simple ideas, whether voice memos or piano improvisations, and evolving them into complete songs while preserving their original spirit. This method ensures that every piece carries a unique personal touch, reflecting the essence and spirituality Joveth seeks to convey.
Set to debut on April 4, Lonely Boy represents a significant milestone in Joveth's career. The EP delves into themes of self-discovery, emotional healing, and the power of love. Each track encapsulates different facets of his life, ranging from childhood memories to recent experiences. By channeling his emotions into music, Joveth hopes to resonate with both new and returning audiences, offering them a chance to find meaning within his work.
Through Lonely Boy, Joveth shares an authentic exploration of his emotional landscape. The tracks not only highlight the struggles he faced growing up but also emphasize the positive transformations brought about by embracing music as a tool for healing and self-awareness. Songs like "Say My Name" and "Money Can’t Buy Happiness" exemplify his ability to transform personal narratives into universal messages. Signed with Voracious Records since 2023, Joveth continues to expand his repertoire beyond this EP, already working on future projects and planning live performances, including an appearance at Pacific Pride in August. His ultimate goal is to create music that connects deeply with listeners, encouraging them to reflect on their own journeys while celebrating the transformative power of art.
