In the recent winter season finale, several athletes have made remarkable strides. Among them is Victor Delgado, a junior at Hendrick Hudson School District who participated in the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston. Despite competing against over 170 athletes, Delgado finished 131st in the Boys 1-mile championship with a time of 4:24.34. His contributions during the winter track season were monumental, setting multiple school records across different categories. Additionally, he collaborated with teammates Kenny Mora, Matthew Sullivan, and Theo Tieche to break the school record in the sprint medley relay. Wrestling also saw success with Shawn O’Mara Jr. and Mason Dietz earning All-Section honors in their respective weight classes. Dietz's journey included victories at the Section 1 Athletics Division 2 Wrestling Championship and participation in the NYSPHSAA State Championships.
Beyond high school achievements, former Hendrick Hudson students continue to excel in collegiate athletics. At Brown University, Isolde McManus achieved first place in the 1,500-meter race at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge. Olivia Taylor from Gettysburg College was recognized for her academic excellence by being named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. In women’s lacrosse, Fiona McGovern of St. Bonaventure University ranks third all-time in assists, while Kira Varada from Iona University demonstrated exceptional performance leading her team to victory. These accomplishments underscore the enduring legacy of hard work and dedication fostered within the Hendrick Hudson community, inspiring future generations to strive for greatness both on and off the field.
