A community dance event in Grand Forks recently brought together local celebrities and professional instructors to raise funds for a noble cause. Clark Piepkorn, alongside his daughter Taylor, emerged victorious at the Dancing for Special Stars gala held at the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center. Their dynamic performance of a choreographed swing dance set to Elvis Presley’s "Jail House Rock" captivated the audience and earned them top honors.

The annual fundraiser featured 24 dancers, including 12 local celebrities paired with skilled instructors, all dedicated to supporting Special Olympics North Dakota. Clark, a businessman from Stanley, North Dakota, shared how his childhood experiences attending wedding dances prepared him for this challenge. Despite acknowledging his age-related limitations, he embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, Taylor, a university freshman passionate about dance, joined her father on stage, creating an unforgettable memory for both of them. The event's director, Cathy Muus, highlighted that father-daughter duos have participated before, further enriching the tradition of family involvement in the competition.

This year's spectacle drew record-breaking attendance, reflecting its growing popularity within the community.
