Tabletop games continue to dominate the crowdfunding landscape on Kickstarter. Since its inception in 2009, the platform has witnessed an impressive surge in game-related campaigns, with a staggering total of over 93,000 projects launched. Over this period, users have collectively pledged more than $2.63 billion, engaging a community that now surpasses 23 million participants. Remarkably, in 2024, the majority of backers supporting game initiatives also extended their contributions to projects across other categories.

Within the tabletop gaming sector, Kickstarter remains unparalleled as the leading crowdfunding hub. In the recent year, a significant proportion of all pledges—83%—were directed toward tabletop games. An impressive 6,646 campaigns were initiated, out of which 5,314 achieved funding success, marking an extraordinary 80% success rate, the highest since the service's launch. Financially, these successful campaigns attracted investments totaling $220 million. Notable highlights include Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere RPG, which amassed over $15.1 million, Equinox's Altered TCG exceeding $6.7 million, and Factory Fortress Inc’s Trench Crusade raising above $3.3 million.

The realm of video games also experienced growth through crowdfunding efforts. In 2024, successful video game campaigns collectively raised $26 million, reflecting a 28% increase compared to the previous year. With 441 successful campaigns, this figure represents a 9% rise from the prior year and marks the highest number of successful video game campaigns in Kickstarter’s history. Furthermore, 78% of all game campaigns that exceeded $100,000 in funding were hosted on Kickstarter. The continued expansion and innovation within the gaming industry underscore the power of community-driven support in shaping the future of entertainment.

Crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter exemplify how collective effort can propel creative visions into reality. By enabling enthusiasts to directly engage with creators, such platforms foster a vibrant ecosystem where innovative ideas flourish. This not only empowers developers but also enriches the global gaming community by offering unique experiences that might otherwise remain unrealized. As we look ahead, the potential for further breakthroughs in both tabletop and digital gaming appears boundless, driven by the passion and commitment of countless supporters worldwide.
