2025-03-27

An event celebrating the achievements of Black and Brown LGBTQ leaders took place on March 26 at The Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by GLAAD, this fourth annual gathering highlighted contributions from individuals across entertainment, journalism, and advocacy. Notable figures such as Scott Evans and Shar Jossell led the evening, which featured musical performances and remarks from key members of the LGBTQ community. The event serves as a precursor to the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, set to stream exclusively on Hulu in April 2025.

The occasion began with an engaging introduction by Access Hollywood co-anchor Scott Evans and award-winning writer Shar Jossell. They toasted with Hornitos Tequila, setting the tone for an evening filled with vibrant performances. Artists like Jessica Betts, JeRonelle, and drag superstar Luxx Noir London captivated the audience with their dynamic acts. Hyundai Motor America sponsored these performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Throughout the night, several prominent figures shared insights about the importance of representation within the entertainment industry. GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis delivered keynote remarks emphasizing the organization's commitment to amplifying diverse voices. Additional speakers included DaShawn Usher and Julian Walker, who recognized attendees representing Black and Brown LGBTQ creators, storytellers, journalists, and thought-leaders.

A variety of special guests attended, showcasing the widespread impact of the LGBTQ community. Among them were Zerina Akers, Nicco Annan, Golden Brooks, Wilson Cruz, Amber Riley, and many others. DJ Dar Jar provided the beats that kept the energy high throughout the evening. This event was produced by GLAAD’s Communities of Color & Media departments, part of the GLAAD Media Institute, and supported by sponsors such as Hyundai Motor America, Gilead Sciences, Inc., Hornitos Tequila, and Delta Air Lines.

Inspiring moments from the evening will continue to resonate as GLAAD moves forward with its mission to advocate for LGBTQ rights through media. As the world anticipates the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards, this event has set a powerful precedent for future celebrations of diversity and inclusion.
