Health Inspections Reveal Key Issues at Local Eateries
2025-04-11

In a recent round of health inspections, several restaurants in the Columbus area have been flagged for various violations that could impact food safety. Among them, Wild Wing Cafe located on Whittlesey Boulevard received an 80 score due to multiple infractions identified by health officials. Moldy substances were discovered on meatballs and chicken wings stored in their walk-in cooler, while temperature controls across the establishment were found to be subpar, with foods kept at unsafe levels exceeding 41°F. As a precautionary measure, all affected food items were discarded during the inspection.

Similarly, Krystal on Victory Drive scored an 82 following another set of violations uncovered during its inspection. Problems included improper storage temperatures for cheese slices, liquid eggs, raw shelled eggs, and milk in both the main kitchen's walk-in cooler and the front service area's reach-in cooler. Additionally, outdated discard dates on shredded cheese and malfunctioning coolers further exacerbated these issues. Other concerns highlighted faulty gaskets and hinges, inadequate cooling within the walk-in unit, missing inspection reports, as well as unsanitary practices involving ice scoops and onion container handles improperly placed near food.

Ensuring public health remains paramount as establishments strive to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. These recent findings underscore the importance of rigorous adherence to health regulations not only for preserving consumer trust but also for safeguarding community well-being. By addressing identified shortcomings promptly and effectively, local businesses can continue offering enjoyable dining experiences while prioritizing the health of their patrons.
